CROSSMAX SL 29

The name Crossmax has a long history in the world of XC riding and racing, and the new Crossmax SL lives up to that legacy. It offers many of our proven Mavic technologies at an attainable price. Weighing just 1700g, it’s a true all-rounder and the best alloy XC wheel in its category.

The rims are made with our patented Fore technology featuring a fully sealed upper rim bridge that eliminates the need for rim tape. That saves 30 grams per wheel, not to mention the hassle of using tape to set up tubeless tires. The rim has a 25mm internal width with a durable hookless profile, and our Black Shield technology gives them a distinctive, modern look that protects against scratches and abrasions.

We use 24 straight-pull spokes (same spoke length throughout) for a strong connection between the rim and hub and a perfect balance between efficiency and durability. Special machining on the hub ensures that the spoke head is secured but can still travel in the slot. This allows the wheel to absorb impacts from trail obstacles. Our Instant Drive 360 freewheel coupled with QRM Auto bearing technology provides fast engagement and added durability. The Crossmax SL 29 is compatible with Shimano HG9, Micro Spline and SRAM XD driver bodies. It’s available with 6-bolt or center lock brake rotors in 29” only and is compatible with a 15x110 front axle and 12x148 rear. It comes with valves, replacement spokes and accessories.

Light and strong. Exclusive to Mavic, this specific aluminum alloy offers a higher strength to weight ratio than conventional 6106 alloy.
LightnessISM light rim technology
Inter Spoke Milling is an exclusive Mavic patented concept. The ISM involves the machining of the lower bridge of the rim between each spoke hole to create a light and rigid rim without reducing the durability of the rim.
Efficiency RigidityFore tapeless tubeless technology
Stiffer and stronger. Instead of being drilled, the lower rim bridge is pushed up on the inside, then threaded to enable the spoke nipples to be directly screwed in it, leaving the upper rim bridge intact.
